We are back at Culture Lab LIC, a great outdoor venue that hosts a free live music series during daylights savings weekends, plus they have a museum inside! We will be playing a 90 minute set this Saturday evening. There is food, beer, wine, and soft drinks there, and there are plenty of chairs, plus room to dance. It is about a 10 minute walk from the 7, E, or M subway lines in Long Island City, and there is a Citibike rack right on the block.
We will be on the bill with two other bands:
— (EDT, UTC-04) — (EDT, UTC-04)
We will be opening for the Big Daddy Project at the outside space at LIC Bar. They are a fun band, so it will be a great afternoon and evening.
We are back at Stitch Bar & Blues, NYC’s new premier blues bar. Stitch has put us into "the first Friday of the month" rotation for the next few months (except July), and it is an early start time, so come support live music. We will have a few new tunes for you to hear along with our classic Kid Java repertoire of blue-note Americana.
Nestled in the heart of the old garment district, Stitch Bar & Blues is really easy to get to by mass transit, and there is often metered street parking nearby. Stitch has a full bar and food menu (try the gumbo!). And at Stitch there's no cover, no minimum, and no maximum!

Shrine World Music Venue, 2271 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd, Harlem, USA 10030
After a great first gig at the world famous Shrine, they are having us back, and we have worked up a few new tunes since playing there. Shrine is a great place to play--a real stage, lighting, and on-the-ball sound engineers--the music always sounds good there. All you uptown folks who think our downtown gigs are too far away, here is your chance! If you have not been to Shrine, there is food from its cafe next door, it is close to several subways, and you can usually find parking there.

La Plaza Cultural Community Garden, SW corner of E.9th Street & Avenue C, East Village, NYC
Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens (LUNGS) is the collective of community gardens in Loisaida and East Village. We played an Earth Day event for them last year, and they are bringing us back for this year's Spring Awakening Celebration. These community gardens events have the cool, old school East Village energy that you are not going to see in Time Out events! And no cover!

Secret Handshake will be back at the World Famous Shrine to play a set of acoustic blues and blue-note Americana. We have a nice long timeslot, so expect to hear some new tunes...even some we have not heard yet!
If you haven't been there, the Shrine is a great music room with a real stage and a very happenin' live music scene. It is on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard just below 135th Street, about a block away from the 2 and 3 train, and close to the FDR Drive. They also have a full menu of food. It is worth the trip.

Green Oasis Community Garden , 370 East 8th Street (bet. Ave C & D), East Village, NYC
We had a great gig last night at Stitch Bar & Blues, including some hip swing-dancing, and an encore with folks in the audience doing the Hand Jive. We hope to get back there soon.
With the constant rain, our gig at the LUNGS Harvest Festival is postponed to this Sunday night, October 1st. It will be a drier and warmer evening, and it is free admission to a fun party at a very cool East Village Community Garden.

The Kid Java shoes at Domaine Bar a Vins have been jumpin', so we are back again this coming Sunday. Domaine is a cozy place in a friendly neighborhood, and easy to get to. It has mostly finger food, but there are plenty of places to eat within a block if you want more substantial fare. We'll be playing both Kid Java originals and blue-note Americana, and it is an early gig.

We play “Blue Note Americana”, I.e., music that is deeply indebted to the blues, but we mix it up with other rootsy genres and often with a contemporary feel. Sometimes we'll play a down-home traditional blues, other times more swing-oriented material. And then there is the New Orleans second-line or funk tune thrown in to keep things lively.
